Lomita, meaning "Little hill" in Spanish, is a city in Los Angeles County, California. With a population of 20,921 according to the 2020 census, Lomita has a rich history that includes early settlement by the Gabrielino people and later Spanish colonization. The city was part of the Rancho San Pedro land grant given to Juan José Domínguez by the Spanish Crown in 1784.

Incorporated in 1964, Lomita was established to prevent annexation by neighboring cities and to control high-rise development.
